CHARLESTON, WV--Novelist Denise Giardina's Independent campaign for Governor of West Virginia is drawing national and international attention.
On Sunday, Oct. 24, the Atlanta Constitution-Journal will carry a feature story about Giardina on the front page of its "Dixie Living" section. The article by Teresa Weaver will cover Giardina's campaign and the mountaintop removal issue.
Giardina is also featured in an article on third party ballot access in The Economist, an internationally respected journal out of London. The article, which describes the difficulty of West Virginia's new Mountain Party in gaining ballot access, includes a photograph of the candidate, as well as quotes from State Supreme Court candidate Bob Bastress, who is an authority on ballot access laws. The article appears in the Oct. 16 - 22 issue of the weekly news magazine.
Denise Giardina has written four novels which have won numerous national awards such as the American Book Award and the Boston Book Review Fiction Prize. She is a semi-finalist for the 2000 International Dublin Literary Award. She is running for governor as an independent attempting to gain a ballot spot for the newly forming Mountain Party.
