November 29, 2009Mountain Party Recruiting Candidates for 2010 Elections; Take Action Now The 2010 election cycle political candidate filing season will very soon be upon us- by early January. This Thanksgiving season the citizens of West Virginia have something for which they can truly be thankful. They have been given a most wonderful tool called The Mountain Party. Let's pick it up! Hammer out real change with it! The Mountain Party of West Virginia is a legally recognized political party, with full ballot access for all local, regional and state-wide offices in every county across the state- and including for WV legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives. So citizens registered with the Mountain Party are eligible to run on the Mountain Party ticket for any and all public offices in West Virginia. Candidates are needed! The best way to make change is running for office or volunteering for a Mountain Party campaign. Our elected leaders are failing us on mountain-top removal mining and climate change. They are bringing us more home foreclosures, more wars and more state and global corporate domination. The future of our planet depends on taking non-violent direct political action now. Will you consider running for office in 2010? (Yes, you. We're not kidding.) Are you willing to do some work for the environment, for social justice, for a better West Virginia? Are you willing to support the Mountain Party as a volunteer, or as a political candidate? It is time for a political revolution in West Virginia- a non-violent political revolution. The tools of non-violent revolution are ballots instead of bullets. But to be eligible to file and run as a Mountain Party candidate, the candidate must be registered either as a member of the Mountain Party, or as an independent (having no political party affiliation) at least 60 days prior to the date on which he or she files to run for public office. Candidate filing begins on January 11th, and runs through January 30th. So candidates who expect to run on the Mountain Party ticket should have their voters registration status be with either the Mountain Party, or as independent, by Tuesday, December 1st, 2009.
