Excerpt from Jesse's bid for nomination speech

When there comes a time in my nation's history that my mother, who has never left her country, is flagged during a routine bank transaction as a high risk for possible terrorist activity, a label which under the Patriot Act could have her held indefinitely without any due process of law. And when a reporter friend of mine wearing a back pack is not even searched as she enters the state capitol complex under maximum post 9-11 security and secret service protection for an event featuring Tom Ridge, where he announced his newest improvements to homeland security. And when just last night, 62 tv stations censor whole sections of this country refusing to air a Nightline program honoring the nation's fallen soldiers, I cannot in good conscience support a bid for office at this time, in this crucial, sensitive and unique state.

I have highest regard for Mr. Nader as an activist, advocate and true American hero. He has been a hero of mine. But how Mr. Nader after breaking the spread in the 2000 election allowing Bush to commandeer the White House by judicial order, how at such a crucial time in our state could you step in and commandeer a fledgling yet successful third party? Successful in achieving a position on the ballot, this third party battles for its very life and its great hope is to battle for the lives of its citizenry. You have shown complete disregard for our country with your inexplicable quest to hand West Virginia's 5 electoral votes to George W. Bush. Against the majority of this party's executive community, you strive to hobble the efforts of all here who truly hope to represent the Mountain Party as a protector and steward of this great state's future. It's women's rights and worker's rights. It's protection of the environment and preventative healthcare for all. It's responsible business taxation and the development of intellectual properties.

The Mountain Party is a state party. If nominated intend to preserve it and work hard to keep our state almost heaven.

I have much more to say but the bottom line is if you want out of the box thinking and to see some real changes in action vote for me.
